Normal Saline

NS is a mixture of water and sodium chloride that replenshes the fluids necessary for normal body function. Sodium chloride is an essentail compound used in the the body to absorb and transport nutrients, stabilize blood pressure, and moderate the amount of fluid in the body.
Lactated Ringers
LR is a mixture of sodium chloride, sodium lactate, potassium chloride, and calcium chloride in water. It is used to replenish fluids needed for normal body functions. LR is used by the body to absorb and transport nutrients, stabilize blood pressure, and moderates the amount of fluid in the body.
NS or LR will be used for hydration for all patients. The choice will be at the medical professionals discretion.
